Cataract surgery is nowadays a routine procedure with excellent success rates in terms of improved vision. Under a brief local anaesthetic, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens. The operation is completely straightforward and usually takes no longer than 30 minutes. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis in our ophthalmology practice.

Some diseases of the retina and macula can be treated with medication. This involves injecting the active ingredient directly into the interior of the eye under local anaesthetic in our ophthalmology practice. The treatment is quick and painless. We also specialise in laser treatments. For example, we can use a laser to close a hole in the retina.

The anterior segment of the eye includes the conjunctiva, cornea, iris and lens. It is a very sensitive area that can be disturbed by inflammation, infection, disease or injury. Typical diseases include glaucoma and cataract. We treat any disorders gently using the latest medical technology at our ophthalmology practice.

In eyelid surgery, various surgical procedures are performed on the upper and lower eyelids, whether for cosmetic or reconstructive reasons, e.g. in the case of blepharochalasis (drooping eyelid) or eyelid malposition. Such operations are routine procedures and are performed on an outpatient basis at our clinic under local anaesthetic.

Tear ducts produce and transport fluid to and from the eye. Sometimes tear ducts and tear sacs can become inflamed or blocked. Our gentle treatment methods result in a clear tear duct and symptom-free vision.

Whether short-sightedness (myopia), long-sightedness (hyperopia), astigmatism or presbyopia – for our diagnostics we use the latest equipment and measuring methods to detect every kind of visual defect. The same is true for night blindness or colour vision deficiency (colour blindness), for example. During the examination, we take time for you and your eyes to find the optimum treatment for you.

A biometric measurement is the precise measurement of the anatomical characteristics of an eye. It is performed e.g. before surgical interventions on the eye. However, the data obtained also helps us to determine possible therapy methods for you. Since good vision is important in many professions and activities, we examine how well your eyes can see with the visual acuity measurement.

The macula is at the centre of the retina, where vision is sharpest. Common diseases of the macula are caused by vascular occlusion, diabetes or age-related macular degeneration. Thanks to the latest examination methods, we are now able to detect diseases much sooner and treat them better. This is vital, because early treatment gets the best results.

Anything that clouds or distorts the cornea interferes with visual performance. This means that diseases of the cornea become noticeable at some point through poor vision. Corneal damage is the second most common cause of blindness worldwide. Depending on the disease, we have a broad spectrum of different therapies to offer you. To do this, we use the latest technology and processes with a proven track record.

For the early detection of glaucoma, we combine different examinations that are also used for diagnosis: we look into the eye from the outside with a special instrument and measure the intraocular pressure. Additionally, the anterior (front) segment of the eye is examined with a slit lamp microscope.

However lovely the reason for laughter lines might be, they can be a most unwelcome sight when they confront you in the mirror. Whether laughter lines, frown lines or forehead wrinkles – thanks to the latest aesthetic medicine, we can remove this kind of ‘blemish’ safely, gently and effectively. We use injections that cause the muscles to relax temporarily, which smooths out wrinkles.

Time for children and their eyes. The sooner visual disorders or weak vision are detected in children, the better the chances of recovery. Because good vision is extremely important for a child’s development. We test your child’s visual acuity, binocular spatial vision and eye movement, among other things. It goes without saying, the examinations are done in a playful manner.

At our Vision School, both adults and children are looked after by eye-health experts. We treat eye movement disorders, such as strabismus (squinting) and eye tremor, visual impairments and all associated disorders. This includes vision problems caused by a stroke, for example. In these areas we work with specially trained orthoptists.
